07th July 2015 – Save Water (Class II-F)

Life, both animal and plant is impossible without water. It is the most essential component of life and is vital for sustenance. Water is used for a lot of different purposes like it is used for household use, in industries, for agricultural purposes etc. Animals and plants too have a large percentage of water in them, and some animals regulate their movements according to the water sources. But, with the recent technological advancements, mankind has become indifferent to this miracle of life and instead of saving water, we are contaminating it.

An Assembly was organised by class II-F on ‘save water’. The students in their assembly emphasised upon the importance of water and what measures can be taken to save water. Some of the measures told by them were : close the taps when not in use, get leaking taps fixed, use a bucket instead of shower for taking bath, use energy efficient washing machines etc. The students even recited a poem emphasising upon the need to save water.

The head of school, Mrs. Sumana Dutta Sarkar praised the students for presenting an informative assembly on the importance of saving water. She told the students that we as individuals must follow all these measures and do our own bit to save water.

16th April 2015 – World Earth Day

It is well known fact that sustainable development and a holistic ecological view are the need of the hour in today’s world, where man’s domination over nature has risen to gigantic proportions. Keeping this thought in mind, Class XII-B presented an assembly on “World Earth Day” on 16th April 2015. The students presented a modern adaptation of Charles Dickens’ ‘Christmas Carol’. The play depicted the past, present and future of a school whose principal did not believe in the importance of celebrating ‘Earth Day’, and considered the entire stress on this concept as redundant. However, much like Ebenezer Scrooge in ‘Christmas Carol’, the principal also changes his point of view and understands the relevance of the day. The assembly ended with a song performance by Aarushi Kulshreshtha and finally, the headmistress Ms. Sumanna Dutta congratulated the students on the effort and results for certain inter house school competitions were announced.
