Social Initiatives Home

Social Iniatives Nothing strengthens the judgment and quickens the conscience like individual responsibility. A society is a collection of all individuals. Just as many tiny drops become a great ocean, so the collective contribution of all individuals can make our society a place we will all want to belong to! Each individual must come forward to contribute either physically or monetarily towards society.

Charity begins at home. As it is very aptly said "BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD"

Our community service program proposes to expose our students to a reality outside their own experience so that they may learn to cope with unexpected difficulties and mature in the process.

SGS encourages its students to play a constructive role in the community by being actively involved in initiatives like:

  • Adopting a monument
  • Adopting a village / park
  • Neighbourhood Traffic Committee
  • Local Cleanliness
  • Environment Awareness Campaigns

Visit to Godhuli- An Old Age Home 25th October 2019 - Visit to Godhuli- An Old Age Home

“To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honours”

To instill the values of love and care for our elderlies, students of our school visited Godhuli, Old age home, Sector-2, Dwarka. It was an opportunity for our students (class 6-8 and class 11) to meet and spend quality time with the elderly and to share the joy of Diwali festival.

The students engaged and entertained the senior citizens with a group song and dance performance. They were also encouraged to do yoga regularly to have a healthy life. Ronak a national level yoga champion, demonstrated some simple yoga asnas for the elderly along with some challenging asnas which were highly appreciated by the audience. The audience was then engaged with an antakshari competition with the students. Needless to say, the students were taken aback by the enthusiasm and zestfulness of their competitors. At the end the seniors shared interesting memories of their school days. The one and half hour session ended with the distribution of Diwali sweets.

The time spent in the old age home made the students realise the value of the elderly in our society and the love and tenderness needed to take care of them.

Visit to Don Bosco Ashalayam- An Orphanage 25th October 2019 - Visit to Don Bosco Ashalayam- An Orphanage

“We can do no great things, only small things with great love. ~Mother Teresa”

Children without families are the most vulnerable people in the world and what they need most is not just a shelter but love and sharing. On the occasion of Diwali students of classes III to VIII, of our school, visited the Don Bosco Ashalayam- “Home of Hope”, at Palam, Dwarka. The students were sensitized towards the purpose of their visit while on the way to the orphanage.

The visit began with an informal interaction between them and our children. The children were amazed to see that how despite the lack of a family those children were happy and excited just like any other child.

After the initial exchange of pleasantries and a formal round of introduction, our students presented a short dance and song program for the students at the Ashalayam. Their act was highly applauded and appreciated. This was followed by a song by a couple of their students. The students sang beautifully.

One of their student’s, presented a wonderful dance performance which mesmerised one and all present in the auditorium.  It was amazing to see how these children have overcome their loneliness and have come together to live like one big family.

Diwali is that time when we meet, greet and share with our families and friends. The visit ended with the distribution of Diwali sweets and goodies.

Our strengths are generally derived from our weaknesses- was the strong message taken back by our students after the visit.

After that the students presented different scenes showcasing the current scenario on how the people ill treat animals just for fun though hampering their health and polluting the environment. The theme of “green world” is spreading all over the world and it’s our responsibility as well to maintain and uphold a better and safe society for ourselves. One small step from everyone’s end can definitely make a huge difference.

Organ Donation Workshop 10th October 2019 - Organ Donation Workshop

“It takes lives to save lives.”

Life is a special gift from God but we can gift a part of us to others and give them life- this was the message of the “Organ Donation workshop” conducted by Mohan Foundation on October 10, 2019 at Sachdeva Global School.

The workshop was conducted by Dr. Muneet Sahi, Programme Manager (North Zone), Mohan Foundation. Dr. Muneet is a medical practioner who has been working the organization since 2011.

During the session, Dr. Muneet explained that a person can donate his/her organs only when the donor is brain dead while the heart is still functioning- a situation when the donor is brain dead. She tried to clarify the different myths that surround organ donation and stressed on the reasons behind the rising organ trade.

The workshop was attended by students of classes XI and XII and then by classes IX and X in another session on the same day. Dr. Muneet also spoke about a volunteer programme- “Angels of Change”, where the school students work towards spreading awareness about organ donation (after death) and how pledging to donate organs need not guarantee the same.

Inspired by Dr. Sahi’s talk, students from our school have volunteered in large numbers for this noble cause.

Clean your city - in association with Paramarthi 07th May 2019 - Clean your city - in association with Paramarthi

Cleanliness is next to Godliness.

It is our right to live in clean and hygienic surroundings, but do we work at keeping our city. Students of our school, joined hands with Paramarthi to work towards cleaning and painting the walls of a park near our school.

This week long activity was jointly conducted with the volunteers from Paramarthi along with students and teachers from our School. While the Paramarthi volunteers worked at cleaning the service lane adjoining our school, our students and teachers painted the walls of a park on this service lane.

While most people only work towards keeping their homes clean, our students through this social outreach program spread the message- “Live clean and keep your surroundings clean”.
