Timeless Travels

One of the most treasured memories of school life are the picnics, educational trips and adventure camps attended with friends. To ensure that our students can add more to this treasure, every year the school organizes visits for all. Smiling faces, twinkling eyes and giggling laughter – are our memories from each such trip. And yes together we learn sharing and caring, team spirit and time management and come back enriched and empowered.


 
Annual Picnic to Kidzania: Classes II - V 27th-October-2018 – Annual Picnic to Kidzania: Classes II - V

“I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.” This is a famous quote by Confucius. And that is exactly Kidzania provides by blending reality with entertainment. Students of class II to V had this thrilling picnic to Kidzania, Noida on 27th October 2018, accompanied by their teachers.

Kidzania is an interactive indoor theme park that inspires and educates kids through real-life role-playing activities. The realism of the role-play helps children learn about different careers, work and money management. The activities like Supreme Court, Police & CSI Department, Fire Department, Energy Conservation Hub, Hospital, Fashion Boutique, Dance Academy, Culinary School and many others, helped students to get the first-hand experience and explore various professions by enacting them. Many activities helped them earn money whereas few others required some payments thus helping the kids to understand the management of money in real-life situations. Kids enjoyed a scrumptious and nutritious meal for the day and came back with a lot of fond memories.

Adventure Camp (Buds - I) 26th-September-2018 – Adventure Camp (Buds - I)

The objective of an adventure camp is to offer an opportunity to grow, develop and practice principles of togetherness and self- reliance. Furthering the very goal of imparting education and helping the students to evolve into confident individuals who appreciate team work and togetherness, a two day adventure camp was organized for the students of classes- Buds, Blooms and Ist on September 26-27, 2018. The camp was organized in the school premises only. 

The camp gave an opportunity to the students to harness their mental faculties, learn while having fun and to help them in becoming psychologically and physically more strong and confident. The students were given a thrilling and unforgettable experience of different adventure activities like commando crawl, body zorb, hop scotch, rock wall climbing, commando net, woody wave, tug of war, zip- line etc. The students had a fun filled experience and took part in all the activities enthusiastically.

Excursion to Air Force Museum 24th-August-2018 – Excursion to Air Force Museum

It is always great to expose the children to newer experiences as it arouses their curiosity about the world around them. The students of class 3 of our school got the opportunity to explore the Air Force museum which gave them the chance to understand the great history of our nation. A small trip was organised for them on 24 August 2018 which started off with great enthusiasm and merriment, also it was a new and exciting experience for the young kids.

The Museum Entrance features an indoor display gallery that contains historic photographs, uniforms and personal weapons of the Indian Air Force from its inception in 1932. There is an outdoor gallery too that exhibits aircrafts, several war trophies, equipments and captured enemy vehicles. A walk across the museum made the young children aware about the glorious history of the Indian air force and its war heroes.

 The students thoroughly enjoyed the day and returned to the school with wonderful memories and refreshing spirit. It was a thrilling and worthwhile educational outing.

Visit to Iskcon Temple - Classes Buds - Blooms 21st-August-2018 – Visit to Iskcon Temple - Classes Buds - Blooms

The students of classes-Buds & Blooms were privileged to visit the ISKCON TEMPLE on 21st August, 2018. ISKCON temple is also known as KRISHNA TEMPLE. The tiny tots worshiped the deitites.The ambience was very peaceful. The priest told the kids about the different idols of lord Krishna in the temple. He also discussed about miraculous incidents of Lord Krishna. He asked various questions to teachers & children. The students enthusiastically chanted the mahamantra of Lord Krishna” HARE RAMA HARE KRISHNA”. The students relished the Prasadam being offered there. They came back happily enriching themselves with spiritual learnings.It was a devotional visit that was enjoyed by both the teachers & children.

Educational Excursion to National Museum 24th-July-2018 – Educational Excursion to National Museum

An educational excursion was organized for the students of class VII on 24 July 2018 to “The National Museum, Delhi” by the Times of India under its “NIE Program”.  It was meant to empower students about the royal history of our country and explore the extensive works of art and culture in the past.

The students took a tour of galleries like Pre-Historic Archaeology, Archaeology, Manuscripts, Numismatics & Epigraphy, Paintings, Arms & Armour, and Decorative arts among various others. The journey was made more informative and enriching by the trained guides who acquainted students with knowledge about historic times.

Students learnt that the museum has in its possession approximately 2 lakh works of exquisite art of diverse nature, both Indian and foreign and its holdings cover a time span of more than 5000 years of our cultural heritage. Students were astounded to see the rich ivory crafts works, paintings, sculpture and intricate designs on the textiles from the historical times of India.

The visit proved to be a great way to arouse curiosity in the minds of school students. It was a thrilling and worthwhile educational outing.

Visit to Bio Diversity Park 18th-April-2018 – Visit to Bio Diversity Park

Students of class IX-A, IX-B, IX-C were accompanied by teachers Ms.Nishtha Talwar,  Ms. Aman Arora Nangia and Ms. Deepti Jain for an educational excursion to ‘Aravali Biodiversity Park’. Students were guided and informed about medicinal plants and their uses in modern day Ayurveda.

This was followed by a zone of artificially created rainforest which included different flora species. Students had the chance to come across the Bat and butterfly conservatory where they were showed many butterfly species at different life stages. They also visited orchid observatory and learned many facts about forest life. The students were also shown a movie that captured the growth and development of the Bio-diversity Park in the last decade.

Visit to National Science Centre 17th-April-2018 – Visit to National Science Centre

SGS organized an educational trip for Class VIII to the National Science Centre, Delhi on 17th April. The visit proved to be a great way to arouse curiosity in the minds of school students and was a thrilling and motivating experience. The students took a tour of the following galleries- Water- the elixir of life, Hall of nuclear power, Our science and technology heritage, Human biology, Pre-historic life, Fun science, Information revolution, Emerging technologies-Space Technology, Information and Communication Technology, Medical and Biotechnology, Oceanography and Earth Sciences, Agricultural Technology, Material Science, Nanotechnology, Energy and Transportation Technology. The galleries showcased a plethora of exhibits that covered various topics. Magic tap, stingless piano, Tesla coils, energy ball, marine and freshwater aquariums were the main attractions at the Science Centre. The students also saw an informative movie - Inside a Nuclear Power Plant (by NPCIL). The Science Centre provided a whole world of wonder and amazement with 137 interactive hands-on exhibits. The students were excited to observe the various exhibits which provided hands on experience of science concepts. Wrestling the gorilla arm, virtual makeup, find the direction of sound, walking through the mirror maze, infinity well, animated dinosaurs, responding to electric shock, lifting a lid against an electromagnet and many others caught the attention of students instantly and they thoroughly enjoyed being part of these fun filled activities.
